Upper Highway Hub is a local directory and community website serving the Upper Highway area of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. These terms apply to website use and our listing services. South African law applies, subject to any mandatory rights you have under applicable law.
2. What we provide
Visitors can browse local businesses, events and community content. Account holders can submit business and event listings and manage their own submissions. We review submissions before publication.
Our paid service is the publication and management of business listings with the features described for the selected package. We do not sell the listed businesses’ products, collect their customer payments, or sell event tickets through our listing subscriptions. Any separate purchase from a listed business or organiser is arranged directly with them.
3. Accounts and submitted content
Provide accurate account information and keep your login details secure. You must be authorised to represent the business or event you submit. Keep public contact details, dates, prices and opening hours current.
Only submit photographs, logos and text you own or have permission to use. By submitting content, you give us a non-exclusive permission to display and format it to operate and promote your listing and the directory. You retain ownership of your content.
Do not submit unlawful, fraudulent, discriminatory, abusive, misleading or infringing material, spam, or private information without authority. Do not upload confidential documents or payment card details into listing fields.
4. Review and publication
Submission does not guarantee publication. We may ask for clarification, request changes, or decline content that does not meet these terms or the directory’s local purpose. We may correct formatting or obvious errors, and will seek clarification where an edit would materially alter your offer.
We review submissions as promptly as reasonably possible. Contact us if your submission is delayed. If we reject a paid listing before publication, we will refund the listing payment in full and cancel its future charges.
Publication is not certification, endorsement or a guarantee of a business’s quality, qualifications or availability.
5. Packages and prices
- Free introductory listing: one calendar month from first publication, where offered. No payment is required and it does not automatically convert to a paid subscription. We may limit this introductory offer to invited participants. At expiry, choose a paid package to continue; otherwise the introductory listing ends.
- Small business listing — R99 per month: intended for owner-run, sole-trader and home-based businesses, with the features shown in the package selection.
- Enhanced business listing — R299 per month: for businesses seeking greater visibility, with the features shown in the package selection and opportunities for featured placement.
Featured placements are selected and scheduled by Upper Highway Hub; an enhanced package does not guarantee continuous prominence or a particular number of placements unless expressly stated in the purchased offer.
Listing analytics are a planned service and are not yet an active included deliverable. We will explain the measures and reporting frequency when available. We do not guarantee enquiries, bookings, sales or a particular audience size.
Prices are in South African rand. Any applicable taxes and the full payable amount will be disclosed before payment. We do not add undisclosed charges. A different free period already expressly promised to an existing customer will be honoured.
6. Monthly billing and payment
Paid packages are rolling monthly subscriptions with no minimum commitment beyond the current paid period. Checkout displays the amount and billing frequency before you authorise payment. Payfast processes payments and recurring payment instructions. Only authorised payment methods may be used.
Unless checkout expressly says otherwise, the first charge is made when payment is completed and subsequent charges follow the monthly subscription schedule confirmed at checkout. Review takes place separately from payment. We will address a material publication delay under our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Keep invoice and payment confirmations. Contact us for assistance with transaction records. An unpaid or failed renewal may interrupt the paid service; we will explain how to resolve the outstanding payment.
7. Cancellation, refunds and satisfaction promise
You may cancel future renewals at any time without a cancellation fee. Your listing continues to the end of the period already paid for unless you request earlier removal. Email us using your account email address; cancellation does not depend on giving a reason.
Our first-payment satisfaction promise allows you to request a full refund of your first paid listing payment within seven calendar days after first publication of that paid listing. It applies once to the first payment, not to each renewal. Statutory rights may apply independently.
See our Refund and Cancellation Policy for the full process. Deleting a listing does not itself cancel a recurring subscription.
8. Availability and service problems
We take reasonable care to operate the website and deliver purchased features. Maintenance and technical incidents can sometimes interrupt access. Tell us about a problem so we can investigate and respond.
Where we materially fail to deliver the paid service, an appropriate remedy may include correction, an agreed service extension, or a partial or full refund reflecting the failure. You do not have to accept a credit in place of a refund to which you are legally entitled.
9. Removal and suspension
We may restrict or remove content that breaches these terms, creates a security risk or must be removed by law. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and give an opportunity to correct it. Urgent risks may require immediate action.
If we end a paid service early, we will stop future charges and assess any unused paid period and refund entitlement fairly under applicable law. These terms do not impose automatic forfeiture of all payments.
10. Privacy and communications
Our Privacy Policy explains how account, listing and payment-related information is handled. Information submitted for public listing fields is intended for public display.
We may send account, payment, review and service notices needed to administer your listing. Promotional communications are handled separately in accordance with applicable law.
11. Changes, complaints and legal rights
We will communicate material changes affecting an existing paid subscription before they take effect. Price changes will not be applied retrospectively to a period already paid for, and you may cancel before a changed price takes effect.
For a complaint, email us with your listing name, relevant invoice reference and the outcome you seek. We will investigate and aim to acknowledge it within two business days. You may use the National Consumer Commission’s official complaints channels where appropriate: thencc.org.za.
Nothing in these terms excludes statutory consumer rights, applicable cooling-off rights, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where a provision conflicts with a mandatory legal right, that right prevails. These terms do not require compulsory private arbitration.
